its got nothing to do with my cats. its got to be a air/fuel mixture problem cause it does it exactly with more than half throttle. anything less it runs fine with no problems. no check engine light. ive checked all the igniton parts. MAF, MAP sensor, TPS sensor (actually borrowed one from a buddy and didnt help), replaced crank POS sensor 2 months ago. new cap, rotor, plugs, wires 4 months ago. it acts up regardless of PRND321. but if i just ease the throttle, it will rev all the way to 5500.....if i try to do it in park with the pedal to the floor, i get 4200 with sputter and acting like misfire at rev limiter is what it sounds like

The easiest way to find out is disconnect your exhaust in front of the cat and see.

If you want to cut off the Cat's and put on straight pipe, I can weld it back together for you.

Mike can you get all the way around the pipe? I have an old ranger too, thinking that is one of the problems on it. Tight squeeze in there though. But I cant remember if I have an 02 sensor behind my cat on my 08 or not, have to look next time I change the oil.

They have been putting dual cats on vehicles since the late 80's. Just crawl under and look about 2 feet behind the exhaust manifold on each side. I got a $20 bill says there are 2 on there! May have to cut that bill in 1/4's and make a payment plan, but pretty sure there are 2 on it!

well tomorrow i will be meeting up with mike and we're gonna throw the scan tool on it and watch what the computer is doing when it acts up....just to see if it does anything, i unhooked the battery to reset the computer tonight just in case it learned a really messed up ignition routine....

well im not gonna go that route. ill just go get a whole Y pipe assembly from the junkyard. it has a bolt flange to where i can unbolt it. im getting rid of this truck anyways. i need something more car seat friendly. its an extended cab but with only 2 doors. im just gonna trade it in for another truck with a 3rd door.

'03 and newer have trace amounts of titanium in em.

Why get a new pipe? If you can get yours out, and can see the inners of the cat, just get a piece of rebar or small hard metal rod amd beat it out, blow it out real good and put it back. You get junkyard and you may have bad mesh in it, looks good through it till you puy it on and starts fallin apart in there. If it were mine, amd I could get it off, I would reem it out n put it back on, but thats just my opinion
